directions to monasterio de tarlac

me and my family attended mass yesterday at the monasterio.  there were a lot of devotees in the place but parking area was no problem for us for there was much space.  a basilica is now under construction.  i took note the directions on how to get to the monasterio for i have received e-mails before asking me about it.  i don’t think there is an available public transportation as of now, but i am posting here the way we got there using our own family vehicle.

from sm city tarlac:  there is a mercury drug after the mall building along mc-arthur highway make a left turn going to zamora street.  turn left to tarlac state university (right side is mc donalds) along romulo boulevard.  turn right when you see the total gas station (left side is agri gas station).  you will pass by central luzon doctors hospital and tarlac chinese cemetery, then a small bridge (agana bridge).  turn left at st. gerard school.  along the way you will see signages of monasterio de tarlac and tarlac recreational park.  when you reach the narrow lubigan bridge you are now at barangay lubigan and just go straight going up to the monasterio.

the monasterio is one place one can visit during visita iglesia (seven churches visitation) customary on holy week.

  1. we miss doing visita iglesia back home. lumaki ako karay-karay ni mamy ang buong pamilya namin sa tatlumpong simbahan sa maynila noong araw (that’s how i somehow became familiar with the sidestreets of metro manila).

i like the second and the last photos. parang kuha sa brazil … Christ the Redeemer! sana marating natin yun, don’t you wish? haha!

sana marating ko din ang monasterio de tarlac balang araw. 🙂

  2. rob you are an angel! i was thinking of going to monasteryo, remember i asked you before and this is a very detailed route so maybe i can really come. this is the other way you take when you go to pangasinan to manaoag right? because i always pass by tarlac to go there and i’ve never seen sm tarlac! also, glad you posted something again!

  3. hi, i chanced upon your post looking for directions to the monasterio. i’m coming from manila will take SCTEX. is it nearer going to san jose to the monasterio if i take the end of SCTEX and not go inside thru the city? i’m just relying on google maps on the proximity. thanks.

    • .. i am not really sure when the monasterio was built, but construction is still ongoing to complete the place. taga tarlac ka pala ewok? my parents are from concepcion.

      • thank u sa responds rob. up to ds tym ba wala pa bang public vehicle papuntang monastery? sabi kz meron from tarlac city terminal, pero di ako sure.

        • .. last na punta ko wala pa. di ko rin sure yung sa terminal vince, sana nga meron na para easy access sa mga walang dala na private vehicles.

  4. our family went there yesterday. thanks to this blog for the direction. the place is quite far from the main road but the view on top of the mountain is breath-taking. there are signs along the way but there’s no specific sign that says how many kilometers. if you are using an SUV type vehicle, you will get there almost an hour from tarlac state university. if you are coming from manila, it’s best to go there in the morning and stay there while there’s still sunlight. note, don’t take the alternate route to manila via capas, tarlac. it’s still a rough road. the first part of it only is cemented. just take the same route that this blog have directed. it’s more convenient. maybe in the future this alternate route to manila via capas will be developed.

    • .. hi miss monina! glad to know that the directions i posted helped. thank you for the information you shared and it’ll be a great thing for others who are planning to visit the monasterio.
