situated in jose escriva drive near the malls in ortigas business district is astoria plaza, a full serviced residential suites that provides its guests the modern comfort of a deluxe hotel.
i made a reservation online in their website for an overnight accommodation on a suite type one-bedroom where i was required to have a $7.50 prepayment.
two days after my reservation, i checked-in at astoria. it is actually just walking distance from shangri-la plaza, megamall and a few steps to millenia suites where i also stayed in before. i requested a higher floor room and was assigned at room 2803.
a one bedroom suite is about 60 to 72 sq. meters.

i would have preferred a bigger bed, but this one was okay.
another lcd tv was in the bedroom and internet connection was included in the room rate.
coffee and tea making facility, kitchen utensils and microwave.
a fridge and stove if one wishes to cook for their guests.
the toilet and shower area is inside the bedroom which is quite small.
i found a match and an ashtray which means i was in a “smoking” room.
took a picture of the classic new york cheesecake from dome cafe which is just smooth and rich. i find it great paired with freshly brewed black coffee.
buffet breakfast is at cafe astoria. i had some do-it-yourself congee, garlic fried rice, sunny side up eggs and dried bangus (milkfish) with spicy vinegar. for dessert, i had ensyamada, sweet bread and fresh fruits.
astoria plaza also has a gym and swimming pool. they also offer complimentary shuttle service to the shopping malls around the area. private parking won’t be a problem for they have a 6-level basement parking area.

what’s the nightly rate for your 1 bedroom suite? inclusive of the buffet breakfast?
.. it’s about $100.00 bert, inclusive of the breakfast and wireless internet.

i got a phone call from them for a FREE buffet dinner few years back; i asked for the “catch” because everyone knows freebies now are a rarity and they said NOTHING. After they called several times via my cellphone within that day, i obliged, dressed up & took a cab with tina from quezon city to ortigas.
upon arrival, we were received warmly. ate dinner from the spread but it wasn’t special unlike in your photos. unremarkable dishes but we’re thankful for it’s free. we noticed a lot of couples were there dining too. and after we’re all done eating, we were assigned to different “sales agents” who escorted us to their showrooms and sat with us somewhere at their highest level-rooms.
after tina and i told them that we got no enough budget to avail of their units in ortigas, boracay or to be a member of their elite group who can check in in their affiliated hotels worldwide, the sales agent assigned to us called her manager–a big fat, unpleasant looking lady who came to us and asked why we cannot afford their offerings. at almost midnight, i felt we were harrassed by falling to their trap (read: free food but you have to buy units from us!).
worse, that obese and ugly-looking manager made us feel we’re worthless by being financially unstable. i learned so many things after that incident.
.. you never told me about this before. i wonder what kind of marketing strategy should that be called!? it’s a scam to trick you of their real motives.

nag-name drop pa sila na sila nikki coseteng, may unit doon, a certain male celebrity etc etc… the issue was unforgettable until i read your post. but i am glad you had an opposite experience with the place.
to be fair, the place is nice but the people behind it during those times were not.
.. i myself will feel distraught to encounter such situation! all they wanted that time from you and tina was to sell.

hi there. i fell victim too. only i shell out my hard earned money. beware of their free dinner/ raffle. you’ll regret what will happen after. sobrang enticing sila kausap. parang nhypnotize ka na, andami nagsasalita, ang gulo. mapupush ka talaga, only to find out you’ll be left empty handed. dami mo pa babayaran even after paying the whole package. sadly. kapwa pilipino mo ang gagawa ng masama sa yo. i am speaking from exp, this happened this june 2013 sa boracay. i read a lot of stories, they’re everywhere even up to naga. so please don’t fall for their bait. i hope you won’t fall victim too. ang sakit sa ulo at sa puso. hard earned money ay naging bula. 😦

ang masasabi ko lang… sushal! hahaha! ganda naman ng place, kaya lang hindi bagay sa akin. hindi kasi sanay ang skin ko sa mga sushal na tirahan. sanay lang ako sa papag na may banig 😉 haha!

your interior shots are wonderful. so this place is like a timeshare unit? i wonder if the weekly rate is less than the daily rate combined. would be nice to stay there when in manila instead of a hotel. that way you can fix your own food too.
.. thanks ewok! i am not sure of this timeshare thing but astoria have properies in boracay and bohol too. yes i think a serviced apartmanet is better than a hotel, specially if you will be staying longer in the city.
